Services covered by this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to:
The QA Workspace Chrome extension (side panel, execution runner, import, defects, reports, and tasks).
The QA Workspace marketing website at qaworkspace.quickcalci.com.
It does not apply to third-party websites or applications you test using the extension. Those sites have their own policies.
Single purpose of the extension
QA Workspace has one purpose: to help manual testers import test cases, execute them step by step, capture evidence, log defects, and export reports from the Chrome side panel.
We do not bundle unrelated features such as advertising, social networking, or unrelated productivity tools into the extension.
Information the extension processes
Information you provide or create
When you use QA Workspace, you may create or import data such as test case titles, steps, expected results, execution notes, defect descriptions, task titles, and exported report files. You choose what to enter or import.
- Test suites and execution results you import or record
- Screenshots you capture from tabs under test
- Defect and task records you create in the extension
- Settings such as keyboard shortcuts and workspace preferences
Information processed locally from pages you test
When you capture a screenshot, the extension processes visible content from the active browser tab so you can attach evidence to a test step. That content is stored locally in extension storage. It is not sent to our servers.
QA Workspace does not read or collect page content in the background. Processing happens only when you use capture or testing features.
Information the extension does not collect
The Chrome extension does not collect the following on our servers because we do not operate a user data backend for extension workflows:
- Account registration data (no sign-up is required)
- Extension analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising identifiers
- Browsing history outside actions you take inside the extension
- Payment or financial information
- Contacts, email content, or personal communications
Information collected on the marketing website
The qaworkspace.quickcalci.com website uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-2BDZ1ML3V0) to understand aggregate traffic, such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and general device or browser characteristics.
This website analytics applies only to pages on qaworkspace.quickcalci.com. It does not run inside the Chrome extension and does not access your test cases, screenshots, defects, or other workspace data.
Google may process website visit data according to its own policies. We use Google Analytics only to measure and improve the marketing site, not to sell data or run advertising inside the extension.
- Page URLs and titles you view on this website
- Referring site or campaign parameters
- Approximate geography derived from IP address
- Browser type, device category, and screen size
- Date and time of visits and basic interaction events
How we use information
All extension data is used only to provide and improve the manual QA features visible to you in the product, including:
- Displaying and running your imported test cases
- Saving execution status, notes, and timers during a run
- Attaching screenshots and defects to steps
- Generating PDF, Excel, or CSV exports you request
- Showing dashboard summaries and task reminders from your local data
What we do not use your data for
We do not use your data for:
- Selling or renting user data
- Personalized advertising or ad measurement
- Credit eligibility or lending decisions
- Training machine learning or AI models
- Building unrelated user profiles
Where information is stored and how long we keep it
Extension data is stored locally on your device using Chrome extension storage (chrome.storage.local) under keys prefixed qaws.*.
Data remains on your device until you delete it through extension settings, reset the workspace, or uninstall the extension.
Exported files are saved to your Downloads folder when you choose to export. We do not receive copies of those files.
The marketing website is a static site. It uses Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish visits and measure page traffic. Those cookies are set only when you load pages on qaworkspace.quickcalci.com.
Website analytics data is processed by Google as our analytics provider. Retention periods follow the settings configured in our Google Analytics property and Google's standard data retention options.
Extension data and website analytics are separate. Uninstalling the extension or resetting workspace data does not affect website cookies, and blocking website cookies does not change extension storage.
Chrome permissions and why they are needed
The extension requests the minimum Chrome permissions needed for manual QA workflows. Each permission is used only for the purpose described below.
- sidePanel: show the QA Workspace interface in the Chrome side panel
- storage: save suites, runs, screenshots, defects, tasks, and settings locally on your device
- activeTab and tabs: identify the active tab when you capture a screenshot during testing
- downloads: save exported PDF, Excel, CSV, or ZIP reports to your device
- Host access (<all_urls>): let you open the side panel and run manual tests on the web applications you choose to test
Your choices and controls
You control what data exists in QA Workspace.
- Import only the test cases you choose
- Capture screenshots only when you trigger capture
- Delete local data at any time using Settings → Reset workspace
- Remove all extension storage by uninstalling QA Workspace from Chrome
- Stop using the extension at any time if you do not agree with this policy
- For the website, block or delete analytics cookies in your browser settings, use a browser extension that opts out of Google Analytics, or stop visiting qaworkspace.quickcalci.com if you do not want website measurement
Security
Because QA Workspace stores data locally and does not transmit your workspace data to our servers, there is no remote account or cloud database for us to secure on your behalf.
You are responsible for securing your device, browser profile, and any exported reports that may contain sensitive testing information.
If you test staging or production applications, follow your organization's security policies when storing screenshots or exports.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure
QA Workspace complies with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies and the Limited Use requirements.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
User data accessed through the extension is used only to provide or improve the single purpose of manual QA execution described in this policy. We do not transfer user data to third parties except as permitted by the Limited Use policy (for example, when required by law or for security abuse investigation). Humans do not read your workspace data because it is not transmitted to us.
Children's privacy
QA Workspace is a professional testing tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the extension, contact us and we will help you remove local data using the reset options described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or Chrome Web Store policy updates.
When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we may also provide additional notice in the extension or on this website.
Your continued use of QA Workspace after the effective date of an updated policy means you accept the revised policy.
