Capability
Screenshot annotator
A full annotation surface built right into QA Workspace — point at the failure, highlight the field, blur the PII, and ship clean evidence.
How to use it
- 1 After a capture, click Save & annotate on the post-capture dialog (or open Screenshots and pick an existing one).
- 2 Choose a tool from the toolbar — each tool sets the cursor (crosshair, pen, highlighter, text I-beam, grab) so you know what will happen.
- 3 Pick a color from the swatches; draw with click & drag.
- 4 Use Blur (redact) to draw a redaction rectangle over names, account numbers, or tokens.
- 5 Press Ctrl+Enter to save. The annotated PNG replaces the original and (optionally) lands on your clipboard.
Use cases
Point at the failure
Drop an arrow + caption on the broken element so the developer sees exactly what to fix without reading three paragraphs.
Redact before export
Blur out customer names, MSISDNs, or auth tokens before the screenshot enters a defect report.
Side-by-side compare
Use two highlight colors (expected / actual) on the same screenshot to communicate intent.
Quick callouts
Use the text tool to drop short labels like "blank state" or "off-by-one" right onto the failure.
Tips
- Press Esc to skip annotating — the raw screenshot stays linked to the step.
- Undo with Ctrl+Z; Clear wipes every annotation.
- Blur tiles re-render at export time, so PDF / HTML reports stay redacted at any zoom.
